Fostering Thankfulness and Giving

Each year our CCD students, families, and teachers participate in a number of voluntary donation efforts in order to foster an attitude of thankfulness and giving during the holiday season. Below is an overview of all of these initiatives. Judy, LaDawnna, and your child’s teacher can answer any questions you may have.

New Hope Ministries

Donations of non-perishable food items, in unbreakable containers, to help needy families in the area. Children in the 3-yr-old to Kindergarten classes will present the food during Offertory at the 9:00 Mass the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Donations of new or gently used baby items; from bottle to booties, and anything in between, with the emphasis on the giving, not the price. Children in 3-yr-old to Kindergarten will present the unwrapped items during Offertory at the 9:00 Mass on December 17.

Mitten Tree

Preschool-Grade 4 students can decorate a mitten to hang on the tree in Menniti Hall when they place a pair of real mittens or gloves (any size, new or gently used), which will be distributed to St. Francis for use throughout the winter season. Decorated mittens must be hung by December 10 at noon.

Christmas Blessings Program

New Hope Ministries is in need of items that needy families often cannot purchase with their allotted food stamps, but are very necessary. We ask students in all grades to participate by bringing in the following items by December 11:

Grade 1: combs/brushes

Grade 2: box of tissues

Grade 3: shampoo

Grade 4: toothbrush

Grade 5: toothpaste

Grade 6: body soap

Grade 7: deodorant

Grade 8: mouthwash
