Memorial of Saint Lucy, Virgin and Martyr

Light is a necessity as darkness sets in. We count on and often take for granted the physical light around us as well as the light within. That is, until we know darkness.

Perhaps we might consider ourselves to be like those early Catholics, hidden away in the dark. Without the Light of Christ, we stumble along the path, lose our way along the journey, become fearful and lose all hope.

But as a familiar hymn reminds us, “The people in darkness, have seen a great light. The joy of our longing has conquered the night.”

What might happen if you were to allow that light to begin to break through your spiritual darkness? How might Jesus be able to fill the longings of your heart? Imagine the joy!
