Monday of the Third Week of Advent

The importance of a name is not to be underestimated. In the Rite of Baptism, the first question asked of the parents is, “What name do you give your child?”

In today’s reading, Jeremiah uses the word justice. Pope Paul VI has said, “If you want peace, work for justice,” which shows another name given to Jesus, “Prince of Peace.”

Jesus was sent to establish God’s justice here on earth. His mission is to make this world a better place, a more just place, a place of peace.

We are only a week away from Christmas Day. As we draw closer, ask yourself, “What have I done, or what can I begin to do now, to promote justice and help bring peace to my world?” Imagine the results if each of us did just one small thing this week!
