Saturday of the First Week of Advent

As we carry our daily crosses and follow Christ, sometimes we may feel tired and despairing. Keep in mind that hope is one of our theological virtues (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1817-1821).

God, who never abandons us, is the source of our hope. The Mass readings therefore proclaim, “The Lord will give you the bread you need and the water for which you thirst.” (Isaiah 30:20).

The gospel tells of the heart of Christ in whom we put our trust: “At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36).
