Third Sunday of Advent

Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of God’s purposes even before the foundations of the world were laid. Jesus is the fulfillment of Old Testament promises that span hundreds of years. Jesus, in turn, shows us who God is. No wonder the theme at Mass this Sunday is Rejoice! We are the recipients of something so big and wonderful that understanding takes a back seat to the simple emotion of joy.

Find a quiet place where you can be alone/undisturbed for 15-20 minutes. Close your eyes. Let God take your
imagination to the synagogue by the Sea of Galilee as Jesus stood up to read this part of Isaiah. Picture the power of his spoken words … the joy that was in his voice as he presented to the people what God was doing … the amazement of hearing someone with authority and life … Close the time with a fresh realization—and recommitment —that Jesus is your Savior and Lord.
